The background:Today is my 8th anniversary at CCF... but I have managed to misplace the prizes I was to offer on this occasion (along with at least one coin I intended to sell) So, here's a replacement contest with whatever was available at a moment's notice! The prizes:Poland, 50 zloty, 1929. Condition: circulated, many vertical folds, some small spots mainly along the edges. Ost, 20 kopek, 1916. Condition: well circulated but at least without a center hole. Germany, 1 and 2 mark, 1920. Condition: lightly circulated, the corners are rounded and the edges aren't perfect but there are no center creases in either direction. The rules:- you can claim one of the three prizes. - you you can edit your posts before the contest closes. - the contest ends when I make a post that says "contest closed" but not earlier than July 10, 8:00 AM forum time. - the contest is considered valid if all prizes are claimed. - the prizes will be drawn randomly, regardless of your answer to the contest question. And the said question is: What do you even need such lousy banknotes for? *** Moved by Staff to a more appropriate forum. *** Edited by DL20K 07/07/2016 2:41 pm

Because I'd like something from Poland other than my ancestors.

SpaceMaNy0, please note that you should also point out which prize you want. Based on your post, I will assume it's the first one, unless you say otherwise.

I would like the German note --
my reason: I would like something to bring to my coin club's show and tell that the other members may not have seen. They've all been collecting for decades and have huge collections. Maybe an old foreign note would be new to them.

German notes (sorry Buddy)
The reason is that I am diving into German coins and currency as a new collecting goal.

Hello There, you won't have to compete with Buddy for the same prize, I think. I assume that Buddy entered for prize #2 because the post says "note" not "notes".

To me the 20 Kopeks banknote is most interesting because I've got coins from the province of Posen from the time when it belonged to Prussia and that banknote would certainly look good besides my Oberbefehlshaber Ost Kopeks :)

Why do I need such lousy banknotes? I don't. I just like winning stuff.

German 1 and 2 mark
I need the note for my father who is a huge Germany history buff and with his parents coming over from Germany this would be very cool to give to him.

I'll take 20 kopeks.
Why do I need such lousy notes? They're not lousy! Each and every one of them holds great history to it.

I'd like the German notes. While I don't need these notes, I definetly want them! I don't have any foreign notes in my currency collection, despite over 100 foreign coins. I think the German Marc's would make an excellent starter set.

I would love to win the 1929 Polish 50 Zloty.
Reason: Want to give it to my wife for her collection of foreign coins/currency.
BTW She loved the coins and card she got last time.

I'd say Poland because it's the most beautiful. Nice condition too. (I'd have chosen the Ost banknote because a banknote denominated in kopeks is silly - doubly silly when it's also German - but at least with Poland I have a vague chance to eventually get something else in the series. The Ost banknote would just stand out in my collection as the one great rarity I'll never find anything similar for.)
And what do you mean lousy? They're all in extremely nice condition. You should've seen the Portuguese Timor banknote I bought recently. Or that one Rentenmark I picked out of a 10 ruble bargain stack that I wasn't sure wouldn't fall apart in my fingers.

You were correct in assuming I'd prefer the first prize. Thanks for the contest.
