Hello all. My nephew and I were doing a little coin roll hunting today and we came across a couple of Kennedy halfs that have similar abnormal rims. Both coins have raised extra metal on the rims. The first coin has the extra rim material at around 11 o'clock and the second coin has the extra rim material around 7 o'clock. Both coins are slight MAD's. The last pic is the edge of the coins were the raised material is located on the rims. What do you all think? Thanks for the help!

They could both be die cracks or the first on could be a rim Cud and the second could be a retained rim Cud. Leaning more towards die cracks, not sure though.
Rest in Peace

Thanks for the info and the welcome! My nephew is pretty excited. He loves finding errors. His 9 year old eyes work way better than my 40 year old eyes :/

I think they're Rim Cuds. I believe a MAD has to have part of the rim missing. Maybe an expert will tell us for sure.

I disagree. It looks like contact marks on the edge of the rim. Look at the first image:
Note the mark on the top part of the rim. Note that it was sheared off the rim. The rim is now missing what should have been there and it still attached to the rim. Somehow damaged after the strike happened. Value? No, it is just damaged.
