Well it's not hub doubling. It is shelf like on some of the devices. The most convincing is on the left cornice of the Memorial.. Definitley shelf like there. So I would say you guessed it.

You will find hundreds of the machine doubled ones to one doubled die. The odds are in the machine doubled images favor. It the hunt for a nice one that keeps us looking.

Keep in mind that if the coin under your scope is not a doubled die, that you can move on to another one. If you continue to search harder, it doesn't become one. Either it is obvious, or it is just a regular coin. Move on to the next find.

You hit the nail on the head. I have a bag of cents next to the bed, the couch and the PC at work.

I am constantly looking for errors. I have mass amounts of errors that I can't get rid of..
I'm waiting for my wife to say it's me or the coins. I'd hate to have to let her go!

The first coin in this thread is Machine Doubling. Agreed.

Still, don't toss that coin back into circulation yet. Also don't delete the photos that you've posted here. Keep both handy for future reference on other questionable and possible finds.

Is it safe to say that, generally speaking, DD and RMP requires that most of the target show some equal or near equal doubling and overlay on more than one (opposite and parallel) side and/or angle? As if a stencil was offset.

If I took a stencil, spray painted it one color; then moved it over (entirely) a 16th, 8th, 1/4 of an inch and resprayed it with a different color, that would exemplify DD and RPM because that's exactly what I did. Doubled it's DYE (that's die) or RePaintunched it.

From my recollection, most MD usually shows doubling on one side/angle and/or an adjacent side/angle OR have at least one shared, common, and unaffected angle/side

If I moved the same stencil or while painting it or moved it retaining one original axis and repainted it, that result would probably exemplify MD.

no hard, fast rules...but in order to think (and see) outside the box, we have to have a box to start with.
