I just came across a 2006 D Colorado Quarter. On the front ALL the detail is there with the EXCEPTION of "UNITED". It looks like it's barely there. There are no scratch marks over the word so unsure what exact,y it is. I have searched the Internet and can't find anyone talking about this find. Any help would be greatly appreciated The Camera from my phone is pulling a lot more detail then when looking naked eye at the UNITED. Either way the word is 1/4 the depth of STATES OF AMERICA and it appears the least detail is at beginning of word at bottom and progressively getting better til D but even the D is significantly less the the S in STATES. HELP

FYI - if you upload a series of pictures with the same name, the last uploaded overrides/overwrites all the others.

First impression is either partial Grease Filled Die. How does the reverse look on the opposite edge of the coin? Many times if metal is missing from one section, it gets left on the opposite edge of the other side.

Note the devices on UNITED are wider/shorter than the STATES OF AMERICA? That is because the incuse devices on the die were partially filled with grease in that area. The devices are tapered at the top so when the device is blocked by grease, it prevents the thinner part (the tops of the devices) to be formed. Leaving them shorter and wider than the normal devices.

If the devices were not tapered, then they would not release off the die after the strike.

Does it have value .. not a lot.

If your interested in having different types of errors
in your collection .. then it doesn't hurt to keep it.

Here is the one from my collection.
