Before I got into this hobby I would enjoy scratching tickets every once in a while.
I have to admit that I get the same feeling while crh, looking for that buffalo, vnickel and even the Wheat penny.
The difference that I love is that I can take the coins back to the bank for a full refund.
I'm loving my new hobby...

Another benefit is that if you spend all your money on the hobby, you still have money.

And when you find a coin worth $30 or so like I did the other week, it REALLY encourages you!

The funny thing is in addition to me running back and forth to the bank to buy cases of coins, I still have a few thousands pennies that I haven't even touched yet.

Another way to save $ on collectible coins, is to discretely ask tellers if they have any from their personal stash they'd like to sell. One time, I bought a roll of silver halves from a line teller for $100, (she brought these in from home). Later, when I went through the halves, I found it contained a nice 1938 D Walking liberty. The value of that one coin covered the cost of the entire roll.

Nice idea with the tellers fistfulladirt ...

I do the same with waitresses ... I have asked if they
get silver coins as tips .. some say yes.

I have bought a good amount of silver coins this way.

Dave H, I found a 1918-D Buffalo which grades G-6. A $22 coin in G-4, and $40 in VG-8 in the 2017 Red Book.
