Could someone explin what happened here? On the left side of the obverse there are beads and they become denticles as you move to the right. Weak strike? Misaligned die? Grease?

Very very common to see in this issue. Some form of MDD makes it look like dentils and not beads.
Another interesting thing to look for in 1968 5 cents is the die chip on Beavers Tail .....AKA Bugtail very similar to the 1957 Bug Tail.
