As I search online Auctions for my Natick & Web Census, I found this 1916 Note that may be of interest to someone here..

It's been almost 20 years since I purchased items like this..
That being said, I have no idea what the market value is..

I left the website address in the photo for anyone wanting to check it out..

I found that this site likes to list one piece at a time, and have a "gut" feeling they have more available after this one sells..

I visit that site regularly and buy things on there... Sometimes you can get a great deal on coins...

So far it's had 26 bids between 5 bidders that have it up to $350, which is still below market value.

I don't know what their reserve price was, but I do know when I collected material like this in the 80's & 90's, they didn't sell for over $2,000 each..

I remember reading a article back then about a fire in one of the Treasury Storage Buildings, and boxes of these cancelled certificates had been tossed out the window..

It was reported that people were picking up as many as possible before the Police showed up..

Anyone else remember this article?

I do indeed remember reading about this, but don't recall much more than you do.
