I don't see any damage in that area along the rim. Cud or fin that bent over?

Usually a coin with a Cud also has something odd on the reverse of the coin on the opposite edge. Does UNITED on the reverse have a weak strike or missing letters?

That looks like a failed die break. I thinks it's a type of Cud if I remember what I've been reading properly
Ovoid Cud
Definition: An ovoid Cud is a die break that incorporates part of the rim and a portion of the die's interior. Its shape will be in the form of an arc from one part of the rim to another part of the rim.

oops, it I had paid attention to the date, I would have seen it was a LWC not LMC

I don't really see any weakness in the letters or design. I am not sure

I think it's a rolled fin. I believe I can see where the S was struck underneath of it.

Or a struck through fragment. It should be raised higher to be a Cud. (higher than the rim)

If a planchet gets punched from the strip by a punch that has a chipped edge it can leave a little tab of metal on the edge of the blank. As the rim is upset that tab can get folded over onto the face of the planchet and then struck into it when the coin is struck.
