I picked up this 1858 SL Flying Eagle that has some minor doubling on the ribbon on the reverse.

Is this just some "Longacre Doubling" or a known variety?

Thanks for any help.

Looks like Longacre doubling. Notice on the right ribbon ends and the right bow the doubling is both above and below the ribbon.

Thanks, Conder 101. I thought it was Longacre Doubling but don't have a good resource for Flying Eagle varieties.

I've always thought that it looked like he made a hub design that appeared as too weak. Then enhanced it to make the design to stand out more. Thus the halo around the devices:

This was probably because of the multi-hubbing of the creation on the die. Central devices added then others added later like the date. (single or gang later) But it seemed to be a theme not on just cents, but on other designs of coins he created.
