Hi all. So I just got this token and noticed what I believe is a spelling error on the reverse. My resurch only turned up the example with the proper spelling.mine is missing the first 3 letters of assassination, and the s on months
Now being this is not Struck Through Grease cause the spacing is different. I believe it is a spelling error on the original die that was Noticed after some of these tokens were struck?
Also I wasn't sure if I should post in tokens or error forum, so mods are welcome to move post. Thanks all.

Well it is definitely a design error, value would depend on how many were made before the error die was noticed and replaced. If this medal is listed in a standard reference I would be surprised if both versions are not referenced

Thanks guys. You confirmed what I expected. Just needed some input. I can not find anything on the design error. I really would like to find more info about it but guess there just isn't much. Too bad cause I suspect it would help value.
Oh well. Ill chalk it up as a rare peice with an undetermined value.
Still a cool error to own.

What I find most interesting is that despite the missing letters, everything is lined up properly, just like the correct coin. It's like whoever worked on that die just stopped.

It's a real curiosity.

Bob,
Have you been able to gather any additional info on the Garfield "assination" error medal? I have the same error, and like you, haven't been able to find any information concerning the misspellings. However, your post did highlight something that I hadn't seen which was the missing "S" in MONTHS! Thank you for that.
I will continue with my research and will share any additional findings with you. I agree that it must have been caught early-on, due to the lack of posted info.
Thanks for your posting, and hopefully, we will be able to raise awareness of this anomaly.

Hi Bill. Now we know there are two out there. Hahaha
Unfortunately I hadn't found any further info. I'll report back if I do.
I absolutely love this token. I find it a fascinating error. I can only imagine the face of the guy who noticed it. I hope more info comes to light.
