Does anyone collect these or not really? 1964 nickel

I came across one of these just a few days ago. Just wondering if it has any value at all.

From those dark pictures I can't tell if someone coated it with copper or if it was a dug coin. I metal detect and nickels that have been underground for many years can take on weird colors.

Try to get better pictures if you can and you will get much better opinions(try different lighting and take a pic with a few normal toned nickels)

I agree with Saruma ... looks like a dug coin.

Dug or plated coin. Unless DDO or DDR or RPM, likely just worth face.

Looks environmental to me. I'd throw that in my "interesting PMD" jar if it came across my palm.

Strange toning for nickel, it's a keeper IMO. I've never seen one tone like that.

A nickel is made of an alloy of 75% copper and 25% nickel. SO if it's in the ground, it can wind up looking like copper, because that's what it is.
