Updating my Australian type coin and circulating dollar and two dollar coin sets has me confused this year. On circulating dollar coins, I understand there to be only two, a regular mob of 'roos and the 50th anniversary of decimal coinage. Yes, no? On circulating two's, a regular Abo Elder, a 50th anniversary of decimal coinage and a bunch of colored Olympic coins. How many colors are there going to be? I see info stating five colors, then listed there are Black, Red, Green, Blue, Yellow and Orange, which is six. Does black not count? Does one of those other colors not really exist? Also, for 2012, were there any circulating dollar coins issued? Edited by jgfindring 08/04/2016 4:43 pm

On the Olympic $2 coins, there's going to be one for every Olympic flag ring: Black, red, blue, green and yellow (though the "yellow" is actually an orange colour on the coin, so you can see it clearly against the yellowish metal). There's also going to be a Paralympics coin with a rainbow-coloured ring, making it six commemorative $2 coins this year.

There is also a circulating 2016 $1 Commemorating 100 Years of ANZAC.
As far as anyone can understand, this coin will also be minted each year up to and including 2018. It's basically the same as the 2014 & 2015 ones, just with a change of date.
I've yet to see a 2016 one though.
No $1 coins for circulation minted in 2012.

Quote: making it six commemorative $2 coins this year. Seven. You need to add the 50th Anniversary $2

All five colored coins have been issued into circulation, and the supermarkets sell complete presentation sets of them for $15 per set.

So there are three $1, the mob of roos, 50 years of decimal currency and 100 years of Anzacs.
There are 8 $2, Native, 50 years of decimal currency, Olympic 5 coins, and Paralympic, and that is just 8 months. I bet there is going to be more.

Quote: All five colored coins have been issued into circulation This isn't strictly true. Only the first four have been released into circulation, with the rest to follow within the next fortnight. Quote: I agree. Trying to keep up with it all is sending me broke. :) I reckon they'll release another coloured $2 coin for Remembrance Day, as part of the ANZAC Centenary Coin Program. They did one in 2012, 2014 and 2015, so why not continue the tradition until 2018?

Hi Enlil, That is not an easy document for me to understand, but it seems to imply that the mint will be releasing counterstamped versions of the coloured Olympic $2 coins. If so, when and where do you think they'll be released? I also note that in the second document for the Royal Australian Mint, it refers to a coloured $1 coin with "TWO DOLLARS" stamped on the reverse (#17 with R17). If they proceeded to make such a coin, would it be considered a mule? Regarding the possibility of another Remembrance Day coin, I note that there were ten currency determinations made last year, as opposed to two this year, so I wouldn't put it past them to make a third one later in the year. Finally, do these documents provide any information about what the final mintages of each coin are expected to be?

@Enlil Thanks for the links. Very informative and interesting. But as Hercules said definitely not an easy read. I found it particularly difficult to differentiate between NCLT and circulation coins (for the circulation denominations).
@Hercules I didn't find anything that mentioned mintage figures

Well basically, each of the coloured will have a M, P, A, S, C mintmark, so 25 olympic coins. If you look at the dimensions, the one dollar with colour is a two dollar, just a typing error, So we get another $2 commemorative. And no this does not give any information on how many are minted.
