Is anyone interested in old Numismatist magazines? We're talking old ones- some back to 1940 and running up to around 1970/Have some ore recent issues. I need to get these out of my attic.

I am offering them at no charge in return for postage at cost. I probably will not be able to search for specific issues but can honor preferences for time frames. I think I have full years of some issues from the 1950's. Right now they are out of order.

Feel free to message me and we can work out a deal. I have perhaps enough to fill 2-3 large boxes. Postage will be horrific - that is why I am not charging for them. Thanks to all for looking.

@coins1989, would you be willing to list in which state you live and whether you'd be willing to meet someone if they happened to live near you? Gas may be cheaper than stamps...

Live in Nebraska- Omaha area to be exact. Meeting someone and handing them over would be ideal,no hassle of mailing or postage.

For security purposes prefer not having someone come by the house but will gladly meet someone at a neutral location.

Ok @coins1989, Omaha is going to count me out on driving as I am much closer to Boston. Hopefully you can arrange something with YNC.

Because I like to support and encourage young collectors (not that YNumismetals Collector really needs encouragement, his posts exhibit much more numismatic knowledge than I possess!), I would be happy to pay for the cost of the postage to ship the magazines. If that is acceptable to both parties, I can send the funds to Coins1989 via PayPal.

If for any reason either of you does not feel comfortable with me making such a 'donation to the cause', no worries at all.

Mark, that is far more generous than I had hoped.

Can you give me until possibly Sunday to get them together, I can then box them and come up with a rough estimate of what it will cost to ship them. I doubt they will qualify for media Mail, USPS gets picky about anything with advertising but I could always see if I can get them into accepting it.

I would expect them to take up two or three medium boxes. I assume I can send you a message using the email option on here.

It would be nice to know they will go to someone who will enjoy and use them. Will message you probably Sunday-OK?

That sounds great Coins1989. Yeah, I wouldn't expect Media Mail either.

I can't remember the rules about when we can send PMs. If that doesn't work, perhaps we can ask one of the moderators for assistance so we can communicate directly.

Well, good news and bad news. Good news is I have them broken out into three containers. I think you live in NC- shipping by UPS would come to $188.00. By USPS surface $104. Media mail- if I am lucky enough to get it will be $33. I am sure the PO staff will question/deny that rate. This is utterly horrific. I can see why you don't see many of these lots of old mags offered, it's cheaper to toss them, sad but true.

I could if you prefer send one box for now, maybe you can see if the intended recipient likes them enough to justify the additional shipping. It's a lot to pay at once when you haven't seen what you are getting. The heaviest box would run about $37 by regular mail.

You are a regular on here so I won't require payment before mailing. It'd be best to have the exact amount. I won't be mad if you decide not to move forward with this. I had utterly no idea what I would be getting into. No great rush, I at least got them out of the attic and can just stash the boxes out in the garage until we can sort this out. Let me know thanks.

Coins1989 - Just to make sure I communicated my intentions clearly (which may not have been the case), I am offering to pay you to ship them to YNumismetals Collector. I don't know what state he lives in, but I imagine the difference in cost will not be dramatic. How about we do what you suggested--send one box to YNumismetals Collector and we'll go from there. :O)

Sounds great. Can you get me a mail address for the recipient and I also need to either send you my Paypal address for payment of shipping or my mail address in event you want to send a check/money order. So we need to switch to a private interaction. Can you get me this information and if you run into issues sending private messages let me know on here and we can figure out what to do.One box weighs 16 pounds and would be $27 or so if sent to NC so not much different to where he lives. Just drop me a line when you get this and I will monitor on here meantime. I may have a better chance of getting Media rate if I present with one package!
