What do thing this one grades. I'll have commentary about the grading of the gold dollars from the 1880s in a day or so.

Looks MS65 to me and I wouldn't be shocked at a 66 grade here. The semi-PL surfaces make it a real looker.

PCGS graded this 1882 gold MS-65. This is a super coin. Many pieces that are now in MS-67 holders are no better than this. I took that piece to the 2016 Winter FUN show as a "touchstone" piece to keep up my grading eye. I showed to a number of dealers who agreed that it is now a crack out / up grade candidate. I don't play that game any more.

Dealers and collectors sometimes confuse these coins with the Proofs because of the bright surfaces, but this coin is not a Proof. Here is a Proof from the 1880s.

This 1883 gold dollar is a PCGS PR-65, Cameo, CAC.

Thanks for the update. I realize the pics are greatly magnified, and that gold is soft, etc., but somehow this doesn't look like a 67 coin to me (as nice as it is).

The views you get here are like the view you get with a 10x glass. You use the 10x glass to check for cleaning and counterfeits, not grading. This is as nice as many of the current MS-67 coins. A dealer at Summer FUN agreed with me on that point when I asked if he had any gold dollars from the 1880s.
