I came across this Ships colony and commerce coin recently. While looking up the different series I came across a "notched" piece. Someone else had the same exact notch around the border of the coin. Not sure if this adds any value to or even the estimated value of coin #128515; *** you'll notice to the left of the c in commerce a "notch" on the border. Another collector had the same exact notch.. Was this any significance? Or just a common production error? Edited by kt_bernier 08/07/2016 09:25 am

to CCF! That is called a ' Cud' it happens when a small piece on the edge of the die breaks off and so there's nothing (no design elements) pressing against that part of the planchet when the coin is struck. Technically not a coin (it's not struck by a government as a store of value), rather it's a token or 'store card'. Lot's of fun figuring out who, when and where caused it to be struck. Nice piece and photograph.

Thank you for the ebay search idea. Good information. I guess I was more asking how to determine the series.. And specific value of my coin

Yes. Follow that link and click SOLD ITEMS at the left and find a similar-condition piece.
It shows good evidence of a previous cleaning, so keep that in mind in your comparisons.
