These were used in my home state of Arkansas during the Civil War.

A cool part of Arkansas State history. Thanks for sharing @ARcoins

J.D. Butler Print made these, all with handwritten dates, serial numbers, and signatures. That's Jefferson Davis on the $1, $2, and $3. Governor Rector on the $5, and Samuel Adams on the $10. The vignette of the slave carrying the basket of cotton is on the $5 and $10. Prices for these are all over the place, with plenty to go around. The portraits almost look cartoonish to me.

Here's 8 pages of them, if you want to see more; http://currency.ha.com/c/search-res...&limitTo=all

Same guy.

Most of the notes were signed by O.Barham, Arkansas State Treasurer.

@ARCoins - different Sam Adams.

The Founding Father, son of President John Adams, governor of Massachusetts and brewer of legend died in 1803 at the age of 81.
The Samuel Adams on your warrant was the Treasurer of Arkansas and died in 1850 at 44 years of age(yikes!).

Cool notes.

You're 100% correct @CelticKnot, my bad.

His photo resembles the portrait on the $10.
