I found this decent looking 1809 half to fill out my set. The seller claims it is a XXX edge. However it seems to clearly be an O-111 plain edge or maybe maybe an O-111A which supposedly has some with a III edge. But in any case not an XXX edge. Note the prominent die defect at the lower curl on the obverse and the centering dot in the 5th crossbar on the reverse.

Is there an XXX variety that fits this coin or is he trying to goose the price?

Nothing. No attribution on the label. You would think if it was XXXXX the submitter would have paid for the attribution.

Looks like an O-111 to me too. Possible it MAY have the III edge, either way a very nice example of an earlier date.

It certainly is nice but priced a bit too high for a plain 1809. If it were an IIII or XXXXX and I would jump on it.

Is this on ebay? If so, buy it and if it doesn't have the XXX return it as a "not as described". He will have to refund your money either by choice or by ebay forcing him to.
