Hi all! I've been a casual coin collector now for the past couple years. I have " inherited" a coin collection that my wife had when she was a kid. I'm still going through it and trying to catalog everything as there are a ton of coins and stamps. We also currently have two boys that are 2 1/2 and 7 months. I'm hoping to get them into the hobby as they grow as well and hopefully hand some stuff down to them one day. I've been filling books for Lincoln cents, Jefferson nickels, State Quarters and Presidential dollars here and there when I can. I'm looking more to start a Kennedy half dollar collection now that will be my more serious collection to start with. Anyway, that was a long winded introduction to say hi. |

dedgren, what part of Connecticut? I'm originally from Branford now living in Arizona. A bit of advise, if you want your kids to get into collecting start really early to spark their interest. I started in 1986 when my son was born to hopefully give him a hobby and have something to leave him. It never worked but I kept collecting and he'll have something when I'm gone anyways. Also, if your collecting circulating coins (like me) then you should consider setting up subscriptions for the annual sets on the U.S. Mints website. Then you'll have all the coins when their released automatically shipped to you. Good luck. |
