For long term if you get scarce coins in the best condition you can afford and hold them for 30 years you should make a profit if that is your goal. Recently, I have read that coin collecting hobby is in decline as more investors move into the space? I see many, many beautiful coins both gold and silver I would buy in a minute. Plain and simple as that, I do not understand why someone would want a problem coin with VF details,instead of getting a problem free f12 etc. ALWAYS try to buy problem free coins. I am going to take a break. All the coins I lack from 20th and 19th century are expensive and I just don't ever see getting much back since I am not a youngster.
