I looked up online and didn't see where anyone was saying the serial was a known fake

I am new here and don't collect any paper, but my very untrained eye wonders if this is real. It looks too good to be true. I can't wait to hear what others have to say. If I were going to send it in, I think I would bring it to my local trusted coin store and get their opinion on it's authenticity before sending in.

I am not seeing anything that looks off.
On this note, and the 1863 version, printed signatures is correct.
(Most notes were hand signed)

As posted, it would be nice to have a local expert to give a opinion.

Have you research what these might sell for, once it was graded.

I am wondering if the cost would justify the grading cost.

I looked into the pros and cons this is really a test note before I start sending real valuable ones in to be graded. But graded I should double my money

I posted this link on your other thread about counterfeit notes (Texas)

Your Confederate fractional is not on the known serial number list

I'm on my Tablet and the Signatures look like it was done in black ink, if so, a red flag for me..

All paper I've seen from that time period is brown ink, and on rare occasions red ink..

I don't know if fractional Confederate Currency was stamped of hand signed, if the latter it would be brown ink..

I know in the 1960's Modern Replicas were printed to celebrate the Centennial Anniversary of the Civil War, all notes with black signatures..

As I posted above.

These .50 notes were not hand signed. On both the 1863 and 1864 notes
the signature are part of the printing.

A CU note of this type is worth less than $100. With the lower left corner missing this won't grade that high and is probably worth around $25-30. You probably won't get enough of a value boost by slabbing it to make it worthwhile.

I was thinking the same thing, but was nor sure what these
Are selling. The Cinfederate note price guide I have access
to is old, so not sure how accurate the listed prices are.

I was thinking it might cost more to have this note graded
than what the note would sell for.

Edit - was just looking at ebay, there are a lot of notes like this one
in similar condition, that sold for less than $50.00

I agree with the others. Probably not much to gain by having this note graded. Looks authentic.
