Hi! So I was roll hunting last night and came across this die break coin with something I've never seen before. So after hours of looking at pennies with a jewelers loop and a few hours searching for a coin like this....I give up :)

It's a nice break from the middle of the "c" in cent to the middle of the "U" in United. But then there is a chunk of the coin missing. My only 2 guesses (No expert at all) are maybe since it's a rim to rim break a chunk broke off during the making? Or 2 is the break caused a HUGE zinc divit? I'm not sure about the zinc rot though only due to the fact it's Noooo where else on the coin.

Well now I leave it up to my new friends and coin gurus of the forums. So what's your guess? And don't forget to have a great Saturday!

P.s. (secretly hope coop does his whole "BAM" dropping knowledge on people with wicked pics!)

P.s.s. Stay tuned for my next post today a 1874 cc Trade dollar with possible DDR! Once I get decent enough pictures I'll make the post.

I would like to see images of the area on the edge of the coin near the ends of the anomaly. It might be a struck through on a piece of foil. If so we might see where it wraps around the edge of the coin on these areas. (The ends of the line how it looks on the edge) An easy way to get an image of that area is to take a clothes pin (squeeze type) and clip it onto the coin. (that will how that area up so you can take an image of the rim areas)
