I have looked at quite a few of these. I don't understand what you are referring to though (I guess my brain isn't working so well this evening) I found one similar a few ago - check it at my link below. I saved it just in case there were others popping up. Does it look like yours in-hand? https://goccf.com/t/263435

Looks like something is on the surface of the coin making the obverse look strange like a stain.

I can barely make out the lines across the obverse your referring to-definitely not waffling but may be something in the alloy mix its hard to tell from these pics(sorry shouldn't of wrote 'waffling' but waffled and yes that's What they do to cancel coins or used to anyway not sure they still do?)

I thought that a waffle was suppose to be a blank waffle looking coin for discontinued coin. This coin has both Fort Mc Henry & the brown lines. Waffle look?

I know it is difficult for you to see what I see. I assure you I do my best aa a new member but at any time coin community is welcome to my coins. I was hesitant to put it up for the same reason.

I am extremely hesitant to post my next find for the same reason because I do not know anything about coins. I just started. Will have to think about it for a couple of days.

Have your tried the search option? You can search for previous posts for issues that you find on your coin, and read the previous answers to see if there is already answer already there. (maybe your next question has already been answered) If not, ask away.

Anita, I started out knowing absolutely nothing as well but I am slowly slowly learning - everybody is here to help you out. I posted all kinds of stuff I found and pretty much all of it was post mint damage - it got embarrassing but unless I did a post how would I know or learn how to tell the differences. I found out early on here that the members on CCF are not here to judge you or your knowledge but to help to educate you in your coin collecting hobby.

Yes I have. I wanted to try to put it together before I posted it.

When I think of the term waffled, I associate that with the mints cancelation of coins that are sent to the re-cycling place so they won't get used in vending machines.

Anita, When I first got on this forum I posted many coins that were either damaged or just plain normal, but I thought they looked different, so I posted them. I gained a little more knowledge every time I posted one. You can get information on the web but I have found that the folks on here explain things in a way that is easier to understand (especially with Coop's images.) Everyone has to start at the beginning and learn. Your at a spot that all of us were, at one time. I am only slightly more experienced than you and I will post many more "normal coins" that I think are different.
