Nothing fancy, but as a beginner collector, I am happy to have them in my collection.

The first one is a 1680 Dutch (Overijssel) 6 Stuivers (KM#50). This coin measures 28mm. It is holed, but it was a prize I won from a "holed coin" contest. It is the largest hammered coin in my collection.

The second coin is a dated 1620 German State Brandenburg 3 Groscher (1/24 Thaler) minted under Georg Wilhelm. I know that these are very common, cheap coins that most hammered collectors do not like, but it is the oldest DATED coin that I have, so it has a very special place in my collection. It measures 18.5mm.

Thank you for taking the time to look at a couple of my coins.

Not too shabby--I hope that you will be able to contribute to the "a coin from each year" thread. Right now there are a couple that are already past this coin, but it wouldn't surprise me if @jbuck started a new one at some point.

Thank you all for the kind words. I appreciate it. I am in hopes that I can contribute more and more, in as many ways that I am capable.

The date is 1626, not 1620. You can see „6" in right part of reverse. Also, the nominal is not 3, but 1.5 groat (Dreipölker in German, it means 3 half-groats) Regards!

Way cool Doug!

I know next to nothing about really old coins, so I found your posted coins to be fascinating and fun to learn about.

Thanks for posting!
