Of course, this is just Book #1. There may very well be some log or notes in the box that contains the other Coin Albums.
An aside: I asked my Father-in-Law, who had Father Q as one of his instructors when he was attending a Catholic University, if he knew that Father Q collected coins. He said, yes he did know that. Father Q had brought a "large Gold Coin" to class one day and passed it around. My Father-in-Law said one of the class clowns took a 50 Cent piece out of his pocket and when the Gold Coin came to him, he dropped the 50 Cent piece on the hard tile floor. My father-in-Law said the entire class, Father Q included, all turned instantly in horror. Apparently everyone had a good laugh when the clown revealed his deception!

I am beginning to feel that the source is enough to overcome the cleaning. These coins have a good story so far and I think it will only get better as more details come forth.

Quote: I am beginning to feel that the source is enough to overcome the cleaning. It does appear that many (if not all) of these coins have been cleaned sometime. Apparently they haven't been touched for the last 30 years so I would suspect Father Q (or his previous collectors) did that. Not at all unusual. Not a great thing but unfortunately what this collection entails. I'm still digging it! I have a September 10th time set up for a further get-together with my Priest Buddy. (Since school has started he's a busy boy!). I will attempt to see how large the scope of this collections is. I understand there are also paper parts of this numismatic collection. I'll let you know! I also apologize for my horribly lousy camera and photographic ability.

Cleaning was common at one time. I remember one of the first coins shops I ever visited when I was a kid. One of the guys was sitting behind the counter dipping and then rubbing dry a pile of coins. I did not think much of it then, but now I cringe!

Wow - those are so cool. You must be having a great time.
I sort of recognize the last coin -- but all I remember is that it's a wolf and seven pups and I wouldn't count on that being true. I'm still trying to remember where I saw it.

Quote: but all I remember is that it's a wolf and seven pups Thank you for that! I was searching Google for a sow with 7 piglets!! Unfortunately, I still have no idea what the coin is. I keep getting Romulus and Remus with the She-wolf founding Rome...
