My aunt passed away and there were some trinkets handed
out, my wife gave me these two. A Mercury dime 1942 and a
single GB Victorian Florin - I think, possibly 1887, can you
tell from the portrait style the range of dates this could be.

I believe the Queen Victoria pendant has been made from a 1887 Jubilee Florin.You can make a comparison from the photos at this link.

UK issued Jubilee head Florins between 1887 to 1892. 1887 is the most common date ever to be found, despite its mintage quantity suggests - probably many people saved it because it is the first isue year. From the photos it is probably very hard r beyond me to say whch year that Florin is from but it has to be between 1887 to 1892.
