Having stepped into a new field of collecting I have found I am having to develop a new feel for coins. I have been looking for two months for an example of a Basilikon. I settled on this example, the dealer had two, this one was the cheaper by US$13.00. The other coin( you can find it on V coins) was rounder but I didn't think it was as well struck. All up with postage I paid $196.00, I am not interested in knowing its value but rather whether it is a reasonable example.

The coin has some provenance it was part of the Peter Woodhead collection and was sold by Baldwins in June 1970:

Very nice coin and worth the price. There are two variations of this type, the earlier and less common has a legend of just the Emperors name. Your coin which is the later type uses the more common legend. Sear 2402.
