I just found my old childhood coin collection and there is one I can't find any information on.

It's slightly bigger than an old penny and has Elizabeth II wearing a crown with an ER on the back and 1953.

I showed it to a few older relatives who think it may be souvenir and not a coin at all.

Here it is :

It looks like a Commemorative Medallion. If it was a GB coin it would have text around the edge on the Obverse + a denomination on the reverse. It's still a nice souvenir piece. Do you know the composition?

Thanks for the help.
I'm not sure of the composition, the camera flash has made it look quite golden but the tarnishing on it is just like brass. It looks much too light to be copper.
