So I'm searching through my 1971 penny's and I found this one
That has an odd shaped B in liberty and the Y is taller than the rest of the word.
And on the opposite side the N in the word one is wider at the
top then has an odd shape at the bottom.

Also on the coin you can see what appears to be lines, I'm assuming that it is considered a woody. Does the color change or darken as time goes by? Some of them I've seen look really dark grained.

That's a normal cent with just some Mechanical Doubling in the B, it's from a worn out die.

In the picture of the word ONE the top 2 lines the N is fatter there than at the bottom with the one line. Also at the bottom the N isn't straight it has a curve on the side of the line.

The picture with the word LIBERTY the bottom of the B has a bump and a thin bottom. The letter Y is taller than the rest.

You are looking too hard for something that isn't there on your coin. Just looks like a normal coin. A doubled die should stand out:

Ok makes sense. I was trying to look for wider/bigger than normal letters like I read about.
Thanks for explaining.

Doubled die is a killer to learn! Hahaha

The "B" in Liberty seems like it had contact with something. The "Y" I'd compare to others of this year and mint as it seems normal. The "N" in ONE looks different. but not looking DD.

The consistent streaky lines on the reverse has some calling it a woody effect, but others (experts) say its more plausible to be dirty rollers making the consistent streaks as the rolled stock is being prepped for the blanking process. Thanks, Doug.

As said before, not hub doubled, but you'll find a good one, I promise!
