It's from the die, not a foreign substance.

I think it is a chip, but it might sneak in at IDB, we are going to need JC on this one

Since the details show inside the area in question, how about a retained interior die break?

I was always told it was a die chip. Common in that area but I keep the ones that get that large,I only found about five so far on various dated LSC.

If you are getting these from OBW rolls, there is a good chance you will find several of them from the same die.

This one is now listed on COC as a RIDB. Found 2 in a regular bank roll.

This is how BJ explained what it is.

"You have a "two for". The large area is a retained die break. The surface within the break is of the same consistency of the surrounding area. So that piece has not fallen away, but is still within the die. There is a small die break / chip at the left end of the die crack that formed the retained interior die break."
