Hey guys recently started collecting or at least attempting to collect error coins because they interest me the most and was wondering if anyone could tell me what you would call these errors. I think the 2005 $1 might have a small Cud on the rim but not sure on the rest and sorry for wasting your time if there not errors.
Thanks in advance

Hi cracker122, to CCF! from one Aussie to another.

The 2005 $1 has had what the US collectors call a Rim Fin, caused by the pressure of the strike forcing some metal up between the Obv die and the Collar. When minted, this fin would have been sort of 'standing up' but over time part has folded over. Aussies aren't particularly keen on these, I do have some, but don't consider them to be worth any more than face value. The marks inside the rim of the Rev indicate that the coins has been scraped by a coin rolling machine.

Re the 2014 $2, again this marking on the rim (to me) indicates something went slightly amiss during the strike, but I've seen plenty of them and don't really ascribe any extra value to them. Maybe hang onto it as a conversation piece. It does appear this coin may have been very slightly off centre when struck, but this doesn't increase it's value.

Keep looking, I'm sure you'll find something exciting soon.

I found a 2014 $2 coin almost identical to that one several weeks ago, but I had no idea what it was so I just put it aside. Thanks for the info!
