Hi, I would like to know if this 1972 D penny is a weak strike or just at the end of the die's life spand? Maybe not? It looks to me like the "T" in the word "TRUST" is missing the top part? Any info would be great! Thanks.

The obverse shows the letter to be smaller than normal. When a die is too over polished, then the fields of the die are reduced. When that happens the letters which are wider on the die that the tops, also looses the height and width when it is over polished. This leaves the coin with thinner, shorter devices. You coin on the reverse also showing a very worn die. Note on the tops of AMERICA the devices are running towards the rim. (evidence of a very worn die) While neither is worth any premium, sometimes just know what happened mean a lot more.
