We are always happy to help. to CCF. Post some images of your quarter and we'll be happy to take a look and let you know. There are many things to look for so it is best for us to start out with photo's .

We need pictures that show the details in order to tell you much about it. At least throw us a date and mint.

Do you think this quarter is valuable because it is a 1970? Is it rotated like that or is that just the way you took the photos?

They are probably referring to the 1970 D quarters struck on dime stock. Your quarter doesn't appear to be this error but a weight of the coin in grams would confirm it.

A dime would weigh 2.5 grams. So all your quarters appear to be normal.

Quote: The OP was probably told about the one that was struck on a Canadian quarter that was my first thought. This will not be the first post with somebody asking about the 1970 quarter. The media hype can cause that.

It is most likely worth twenty five cents. You did not answer my question about the rotation yet and that is the only thing that has a chance of making this coin worth more than a quarter. The valuable coin you may be mistaking this one for is a proof only issue that was not put in circulation. The chance of finding one of those in change is virtually 0%. They may not even exist other than the one posted on the news and spread on social media. There are some valuable coins out there waiting to be found, but the news and social media are not the places to learn about what they are. Neither of those sources are always honest. They make money by views and clicks, the more they can get people's attention on a subject, the better off they are.

If it were struck on a dime planchet, the coin would be the thickness of a dime and the design would be weakly struck: Note how it didn't strike fully? That is because the metal was no there to make the devices strike up into the die. Keep looking there are more to find out there that may be you cash coin. knowing what to look for is the key. When you get a change check out my 5 youtube videos in my signature line below this post. It will help you on your coin collecting journey.
