1957 Cent MS67RB

I was tempted to pick it up as an interesting registry set coin. But I think it is actually PL so I didn't as I thought I would would literaly just be "buying the holder". Any thoughts on this one?

Very possibly a PL.

ICCS makes the occasional mistake between PL and MS, but I find the US TPG's make a whole lot more.

Looks MS

For a registry set the holder, right or wrong, is all that matters.
"Dipping" is not considered cleaning...

That was the one I meant.

It was tempting. This is the only MS67 PCGS cent pre 1972. However, there haven't really been that many Elizabeth cents certified at all (especially if you exclude he huge number of 2012 cents). So while the grade is scarce for now, it may not be if people make a serious stab at registry sets.

Taking on Elizabeth cents is a tough call. The set with varieties has 76 coins, many of which are ultra common and are hardly worth holdering. There is really only one full set that is registered.

I was thinking the same thing when I saw it but maybe in hand it looks MS. Maybe the cartwheel luster is there

Definitely MS... the 1955 PL strikes are closer to specimen strikes, with fields that are like dazzling mirrors.

However, for someone who plays the registry set game, a MS66 red would give you a higher score with the "red" bonus.
