Since I've decided to start another Dansco set of Ikes, I thought I would try something new- just for the fun of it. I created this virtual/digital Capital Plastics holder for this new set. My plan is to photograph each one as I go to create a virtual, all-in-one shot of the entire 32-coin set. This file is a large 15MB, 1000-dpi image. If any one would like a copy of this template just send me a PM. I would be happy to share this file with any member who is interested in doing the same thing. We could even share the building of these sets right here, virtually. Here is the blank template (screenshot): Here is the template with the first 3 virtual holes filled: These are just screen shots. The template is high resolution - very sharp and crisp. I think this is gonna be fun. Alrighty, peeps. Let's get to building those new sets! Edited by Darth Morgan 09/14/2016 9:50 pm

Cool idea, Darth. I know every collector is different, but I'm curious how long it typically takes you to complete a set. I'm tempted to give this a try.

VERY cool Darth! Someday I would like to have a digital record of my albums but I am not to that point yet. Have fun with this project!

I'm assuming only raw coins are allowed...as if you were really putting them in the album?

Excellent idea. Perhaps I will do this with my second set. The more I look at those first two I got recently, the more I want to leave them in the slab. Yeah, odd, right? I am still impressed with how well the Capital holders look, so this might make for a fun compromise.

One of the main reasons I decided to start making my digital albums (instead of just photographing the actual album pages) was specifically because I wanted to included slabbed coins that otherwise wouldn't fit in the actual albums. I don't see why Darth would want to restrict himself to just raw coins. Assuming, of course, he even has any certified Eisenhower dollars in the first place, that is...

Here's a cropped "close-up" portion. As you can see it's pretty large, and this was still downsized/resized by photobucket.

I'm a little further along now . . . . I'm really starting to like this digital approach. It just adds to the many ways you can enjoy your collection.

Advantages: - You can mix slabbed and raw coins in the same album. - You can show both the obverse and reverse side-by-side on the same page. - You can store the better coins in a safe deposit box in a bank vault. - You use the same coins in more than one virtual album at the same time. - You can squeeze more coins on a page than you can with a real normal-sized album. - For a type collection or other collection with varied coins, you can arrange them anyway you want.
