I'm in the dark when it comes to coins like this being fake or genuine. Is there any particular "smoking gun" someone might recognize that tells if it's good or bad? There is edge lettering but I did not show it at this writing. It's about 28.8mm dia, the rim is 2.4mm thick, weighs about 13.14 grams and appears to be copper.

Look like fake to me. Suporters of shield are strange.

Genuine one look like here:

This actually may be genuine. This particular coin is actually somewhat scarce. If anything, I am more likely to say that the 1775 2 kopek is a replica.

A very similar coin was sold here with similar die crack

Interesting dialog and observations. I was ready to think my coin is a bit cartoonish, but now I'm not so sure.
This coin was presented to me as a copy, but I'm not exactly sure what makes it a copy after viewing more photos.
It seems to be the right size and weight in copper. Unsure what fakers would gain by that unless it's an attempt to fool buyers with a coin lacking the KM on it. I guess I could post pics of the edge if you guys thinks it's worth it.

Well here I am again. This time with news about the coin. I am in contact with a leading expert on Russian coins and after sending him edge pictures, he assures me the coin is indeed not genuine. And that's Ok because it was presented to me as a fake and I collect and document fakes. What I lack is a detailed understanding of exactly why it is fake? When I look at it and measure it, I just don't see it. I do see the heads of the animals differ, but I see similar on others. Here is the picture of the edge lettering in various spots around the coin. Just what precisely is right or wrong about this I am not sure. Maybe you guys can shed some light. I have trouble with coins like this since I really don't grasp what I am looking at. It's quite easy for me with normal fakes, but I can't at a glance tell these kinds apart.
