I have an opinion question for the community.
I will preface by saying that I don't know if the buyer is a member of this community, but if he is, I mean no harm, I am only trying to hear other's opinion on our recent transaction.
I bought this coin (with intention to resell) from a dealer at a show and listed it on ebay for a buy-it-now. I accepted a best offer for $45, despite the fact that I was taking a loss on it simply because coins seem more valuable at a show than in the real world. http://www.ebay.com/itm/1877-CC-Dim...AOSwFV9XxLPy
I take pride in my listings and honesty, and I nearly always accept returns. this coin was sold with a 30 day return policy, money back, buyer pays return shipping.
I was very surprised to get a return request from the buyer that read
"This coin is heavily damaged with Rolled Rims . The Edge Reeding was crushed in the past and now the reeding is gone and the coin has a smaller diameter. This coin is no good now"
The Reason: Doesn't match description or photos

I accepted the return and paid the shipping, because- what choice do I have. But I was insulted, and felt taken advantage of.

So, here is the opinion question:
Obviously, without seeing the edges, you couldn't say about the damage. Suppose it is exactly as the buyer claims for I have no reason to assume ill-intent on his part. (Though I didn't notice it when I bought it or sold it)
Is this listing SNAD? Or is this buyer abusing the right of claiming SNAD? Should they have just requested a return and not demanded the return shipping, and causing my defect rate to go up?
Please share your thoughts.

I very rarely accept bids from US buyers because of the rampant abuse of the returns system by too Many US bidders.
Too many "tire Kickers" in the US for my liking

Over a thousand transactions with US buyers this year , ebay and off . We gave a no questions 14 day return policy, two returns and one was completely my mistake.
As to the OP , the buyer will win anyways , just refund and keep smiling.

Yeah, don't worry about it. Buyers will say anything sometimes just to return something. Don't take it personally. Am sure your next hundred transactions will go smooth

There are a number of things going on here. 1. The coin is worth what it is worth. Sounds like you learned a hard lesson on market value. 2. All I am hearing is a sob story with no proof that you are actually being taken advantage of. You said you accept returns, which is what the buyer requested. So, what exactly is the problem here? 3. Look at the pics in the listing, you can see that the rim is messed up. Perhaps the buyer should have seen that before buying, but you did not provide any details on the rim or pics of the rim. It is really a grey area. Take it as a lesson learned, dont take it personally, move on, learn for next time.

I am just asking for people's opinion on whether they would consider a listing like this to be SNAD. I did not. but then again I am not exactly objective...

that is exactly my point. I didn't hide anything, and the buyer made an offer based on what they saw. or not.
This is an opinion question....i appreciate yours.
