It's a new account -- member since April 11. I can understand being reluctant to buy from a seller who hasn't established a reputation yet, but I can't see any legitimate reason for ebay to remove the auctions. A policy that no new sellers are allowed would hardly make sense.

The only thing scary about new sellers is if they start out with items that are hundreds of dollars. I'm willing to try out almost anyone that has a $10 or so item even with some negative feedback. Just don't want to tie up $100 in a case.

I'm not in a position to buy coins that cost hundreds of dollars, but I agree with you. If I were spending that kind of money, I'd be leery of an unknown seller.

Everybody has to start SOMEWHERE. But the red flags are red flags, whether the user has a score of 0 or 10,000...
There's just something about a scam listing that, 'smells' funny. Sometimes you don't even know WHY unless you go back over it carefully. "I'm not a coin collector, yet an obscure numismatic term is used correctly." Unsearched - yeah right. etc.

I try to live by "you cannot cheat an honest man". If I see something too good to be true, I warn the seller. If I get scammy responses, I run. I might run from some of [edit the listed items] upthread.

Nice detective work Goldflake. So the 2 Cent Piece sold on the 17th, and was listed again on the 19th by colewi_0. Wow, that's a fast turnaround. The 1/2 Cent was a BIN, so can't see if it was the same buyer. I'll take a wild guess and say, 'it wasn't.'

In four of the listings, the seller credits PCGS for the images: 'Coin detail information and example images provided courtesy of Professional Coin Grading Service (PCGS). All Rights Reserved.' Two of those listings are for NGC-certified coins.
1) Why would you use 'example images' for a certified coin?
2) How likely is it that PCGS is using NGC-slabbed coins for 'example images'?
I've started following this seller in hopes of seeing the feedback on these auctions.

PCGS - but only PCGS - can get them taken down via DMCA take-down notices. I'm not sure what happens with a call to their customer service...
