New to the forum. Probably a stupid question!

I see several sales of current proofs selling for less than the mint price. How is this possible. Are they getting a quantity discount?

Are you talking about face value, or the original price from the mint? Can you post a link?

I think some dealers will buy a large quantity of sets looking for high quality MS69 or 70 coins that they can cherry pick and send in to have slabbed. Then they sell of the rest for slightly below retail to move the inventory.

That often happens.

People buy a coin from the mint. Then give it away or
decide to sell it. Most times coins like this will sell
for less than issue price.
