I think that major hit to the jaw and the light scratching on the cap and in the field in front of the portrait may keep it at 63, but I have been looking at alot of Morgan auctions lately and they seem to be pretty easy on them. I see slabbed coins graded 65 that I would have a hard time grading over 63. I think this might slab at 64 from NGC. It would be nice to see the whole reverse, but the Eagle does look pretty clean with minimal contact to the breast feathers- too bad the reverse cannot bring it up a grade !

Beautiful coin!

I would say MS63

The jaw and wear on the eagle's breast keep in under 64 imo.

However, I am a complete newbie so take my opinion with a huge grain of salt!

As far as what NGC will rate it I have no idea. I only have two NGC slabs and they are modern Silver Eagles at MS69.

This coin looks very similar to NGC MS63 certified Morgans I have in my collection. It has too many marks on the jaw to give it a 64. They usually go 60-63-64-65- don't usually grade at 61 or 62. So 63 is my bet.
