I don't think long term loyal customers is the target market, based on my experiences. I believe they make their money in cycles, with buyers getting into the hobby for a few years at most before moving on. There's still the odd collector that buys a proof set etc., each year, or silver dollar collectors. To be a long term collector, say achieving MC status of platinum plus, you have to have very deep pockets. With that being said, although I can't afford to be buying all the Canada 150 coins, I'm sure there are going to be some fantastic coins, and some huge profits for the RCM. I really like the '67 series and hope this 150 series sparks an interest in the hobby, as the '67 did. It will be interesting to see what the designs will be, and if everyday Canadians came up with designs that rival the RCM in terms of design, and creativity. I can't imagine what will be on them but wish I had made an entry. It would be super cool to have something you created being plastered on Canadian coinage, for the whole country to see and use. Anybody have a guess as to what the designs will be?

Better idea for the RCM . Why not make a set of the original designs in the original size and composition with a remake of the original Medal in a red box. Strike in Proof and sell for 150 a set. No Mintage limit. That would be really nostalgic and very cool. Do the same and make a set in the black box with a remake of the 20 dollar gold. While we are at it , the Bank of Canada could redo the Centennial 1 dollar Banknotes in the original style. Sheet of 40 at 150 a sheet. The US mint just had a Centennial Mercury dime issue.......sold out the first day. Collectors and people in general love nostalgia.

All very good ideas. It will be interesting to see what the mint does because this is a huge sales opportunity.

Great idea! The volume of sales could be extremely revealing, possibly far greate than RCM might initially anticipate.

I think, close to 50% of the buyers, quickly ran to list this coin on ebay to exploit the "nostalgia" of others. Only unlimited mintage can defeat this, but in this case, many people just will not buy...

So it confirmed to be the Goose / Swan? In any case, regardless of the series, this first coin will be fast sold out and reach CAD 700 - 900 on the secondary market. I wouldn't hesitate, if planned to get it. Just grab it, even if will overpay a bit.

Where was it suggested that any of the coins would have a goose or a swan on it?

The penny will be interesting. I thought it was gone.

Quote: Where was it suggested that any of the coins would have a goose or a swan on it? Since the new big series is based on the 1967 Centennial set we know the dollar coin is a Canada Goose. The rest of the coins feature a wolf, cougar, hare, fish and bird. Quote:

The 1967 coins were circulation coins. They produce millions of them. They are only worth bullion value, which is silver for the coins except for the nickel and penny
