Hey,

I have a Texas 1934 half available to me that looks EF, not cleaned. Do you agree? What would be a fair price for this?

Thanks

I am unable to judge the surfaces based on those photos ... although it does appear to be an authentic, lightly circulated example. Concur in general on your assessment of XF range.

There have been a lot of lightly circulated 1934 Texas half dollars sold on ebay over the years ... search the completed auction listings and you'll arrive at a reasonable current market price.

An EF grade makes sense. Value, maybe around $100.

Very nice XF Texas half dollar

Greysheet for a 1934 XF half dollar is $100
It does not go up much for each grade
For example greysheet for MS 63 $125

GR58 from that it almost seems stupid to buy circulated when you can get MS

Some people want circulated Texas Halfs as pocket pieces.

@Jolteon1698: It all depends on what type of collection you are trying to assemble. If you are looking for a nicely matched set of circulated commemoratives, then the XF would be one way to go. If, however, you are looking to obtain the best example you can afford for each type and do not care about mixing circulated and mint state coins in your collection, then it would likely be better to wait for a nice MS example of the Texas - they are plentiful and inexpensive.

It's all up to you and your collecting objectives!

It all depends on what your collecting goals are.
And what makes you happy.

That is also part of what in means to do the research.

Some coins are like that, they don't go up much with each grade. Until you get to the Gem grades.
