I was "playing" with my coins today (as my wife likes to say, "hey, why don't you take a break today and play with your coins or something?")

So I was looking at a roll of 1970's Lincolns (sadly, with other dates mixed in too) that I had never really bothered to sort through before.

Let me explain that I have never done well at trying to identify 1970 S Lincoln small dates. This is probably my worst skill in all of coin collecting.

I really did try and I have narrowed out many. But the E in liberty, the 9 in the date and the 7 and 0...well they just start looking all same at some point and then I start to second guess myself.

I am posting the ones I have some doubt are large (not convinced they are small dates, just some hopeful doubt they are large). I was hoping someone who can identify these things as a glance could let me know if there were any I should look at a little harder before I move on.

I was liking 1, 2 and 16 (but this not my forte, as I mentioned).
I apologize for the pics in advance.
And I also give appreciation to anyone who is willing to offer an opinion.

Thanks

I think they are all large dates. I had my doubts about the digit 9 in no. 6, but the seven is too low.

Thanks Numisa, I appreciate you taking the time to take a look and reply.
I might have figured as much as none of them being the small. This is my true nemesis coin!

I see nothing that strikes me right off. I to struggle with this variety. Guess because I've yet to find one in circulation.

Some suggest looking upside down, some say sideways and others say different angles.

I like an image taken straight on for comparison purposes. Even then I find myself second guessing quite often.

To me there seems to be a lot of floating roofs created this year due to over polishing the reverse die(s). Though no premium involved, it gives the eye something else to look for. Thanks, Doug.

Here a few valuable suggestions on what to look for:

Note the shape of the 9 on the center loop? The direction it points to is a clue to shich one it is. The location of the bottom of the 7 is the first place I look. Note how the large date is lower.

If you have an image on your computer, try the business card test. That will show if the tops of the devices are all the same height.

Thats great coop! I have not used the direction of the 9 point as a reference before but that certainly helps to identify this coin!
