For those of you who missed this from a recent discussion, I thought you'd enjoy this video where Danny DeVito shows off his coin collection to Billy Crystal.
I have to tell you I'm a lot like him. I have a load of coins that my dad and my grandfather gave me. To this very day, my dad and I attend three coin shows a year together. To me, it's the most precious time I get to spend with my dad. We walk the bourse together, not just to find a coin or two that we want to purchase, but also to talk about memories. My dad is 84 and I don't know how long I have left with him but I want those moments to never go away.
This is proof that a coin does not need to have a high numismatic value to be priceless. I have coins in my collection that fit into this category. The priceless memories are of my dad taking me to Pike Place Market on a Saturday morning to explore the stands and coin shops. We spent many hours together talking about whatever came to mind. When I got a little older it became trips to the mountains to explore half forgotten logging roads and finding beaver ponds full of fish.
