I had the following experience and I'm wondering if anyone understands what's going on:

I won a coin auction at a good price, since no one else bid. The seller refunded my money and opened a request for me to allow cancellation. He claimed that he had sold the item to someone else, which is bull. He pulled something like this on someone else, according to his feedback. I then tried to leave negative feedback myself. E-bay said that he was a "power seller" and that I would have to wait 7 days. I was told to opt for "Leave Feedback Later" instead. But once I agreed to cancellation, the item completely disappeared from my Purchase History.

Yep - when you agreed to the cancellation, you squandered the ability to leave feedback. ebay isn't always clear/straightforward with this kind of stuff.

Lots of dealers sell on ebay and shows and items are not always available when bought online.

I tried to leave feedback before I agreed to cancellation, but e-bay would not allow it. I guess they want me to jump through hoops for them.

I believe that once a dialogue is going on between buyer and seller, neither can leave feedback during the process.

The seller has messaged me with an apology, which something you usually don't get in a situation like this. So I take it at face value and assume he's truthful. Maybe it's a good thing I wasn't able to leave neg. feedback, which I do not like to do. Thanks for everyone's feedback.

I thought a seller was not suppose to sell a item they
have listed on ebay. Weather it is at a coin shop or show.

And not suppose to end a auction once there is a bid on the
item.

If a seller does this often, their account could be suspended
or canceled.

If is was accident, I might try to be understanding.

If I made the mistake, I would try to make it up to the
bidder.
