Hello all,
I wanted to share a story that was a lot of fun to be a part of.

My son has had a big interest in coins over the past year, and we do a bit of Coin Roll Hunting to enjoy time together doing something he has fun with.

His hobby has caused relatives to hold onto any "interesting" coins for him, which feeds his excitement. A few weeks ago, his Grandfather told him he had some old coins that he's had in a drawer for 30 years that he doesn't look at. He is no means a coin collector, and these were just put in a jar because he thought they were neat.

He decided to give them to my son, since he would enjoy them more and his eyes were big as saucers when he said that. We already have a plan to put these together in his binder of 2x2's marked as a special page given to him by his grandpa. Really a fun time.

Finds:
-54 wheat pennies (1917, 1926D, 1931, 1935D, 1936, 1936D, 1946S, 1947D, plus 44 other 30's, 40's and 50's wheats)
-1922 and 1922D Peace dollars
-13 Eisenhower dollars (11 pictured)
-1936 Washington quarter
-Dateless Buffalo nickel
-1943D and 1944 Mercury dimes

There were also a lot of Foriegn German and Dutch coins, as well as Canadian Pennies, Nickels, Quarters as well as a Paper dollar from 1954.

Great story. I love it when a collection is enjoyed by the next generation and the collection stays in the family.

Thanks for the kind words, all!

@jbuck- Ikes are a favorite of ours. I bought him a few for $1.50 at a coin shop, and we were lucky to get 3 of them from a teller in the summer too.
Rest in Peace

Great job Dad!
The father / son time he is experiencing will be remembered a lifetime.
And 8 years old is a perfect time for him to discover something he could enjoy for the rest of his life.
