So I got these from my grandmom here the other day. And I did Google about them, but after reading about fake gold coins of the 1917 I wanted to ask for help here. Maybe someone can determine if it's real or fake. Also there are holes in them. I think these were made to use them as a necklace or something.

Hope to hear from you, regards Geir O, Norway

As Rex says; not genuine sovereigns but may have some gold content if produced for use in the jewellery trade. If they do there will be a melt value.
Have them tested.

The 1917 (no mintmark) or London mint is extremely rare, these look fake from the pictures alone I'm afraid

Looking at how close up the textured surface of the piece of kitchen roll appears in these photos I'm wondering if these imitation sovereigns are smaller than the real thing too and may have been made simply as decorative items. What is the diameter of the coins?
I've also noticed the coin on the left in the first photo appears to be turning green in places. Doesn't bode well for gold content...

Diameter and weight will likely be sufficient to determine if they are gold.
