This was what I won(or at least I thought):
Thought-I-Won-An-1874-Dime---What-Grade-Would-Give?

This was what came in the mail:

The MM shows better at certain angles. I got her form much less than the $70 on the flip.
What grade would you give?

Some more pics, taken with USB microscope + Iphone lighting:
(Don't know if these help or hurt)

1874 S low mintage of 240K
Condition vf30-xf40
Value ballpark wise $120 to $250 based on PCGS pricing so about 15% less of that. Nice score.

It's mid level VF. Either a 25 or 30. I'm a little distracted by the typical light strike on reverse. Of course you wouldn't have nabbed a S for a P price if it wasn't.

Overall, I like this coin.

ebay tends to overprice these. I'd say $125 in this condition. 240k minted.

VF-30

Only three die varieties for this date and mint mark combination http://www.seateddimevarieties.com/...svarpage.htm

I'm leaning towards F-102 or F-102a. I can't tell from the pictures if yours has the reverse die cracks associated with F-102a.

I cannot find any die cracks on the reverse but I did find the repunched left arrow:
Thought-I-Won-An-1874-Dime---What-Grade-Would-Give?

I would say then it is the 102.

Thank you MV

Does anyone think this would be worth getting graded?

Check the mapping against your coin. It's not worth grading and there's no premium for the die marriage. There's only 2 known die marriages but you could go for the micro S and round out your collection on the year issue since its so short.

Now, if you had a new die marriage you'd have something but considering the Numismatic prowess for the series is on its third recognized expert (Awash/Greer/Fortin) and the countless others who vie to take the reigns, chances are this issue, aside from reverse stages of degeneration, is all known. Great find for the money.
