i don't pay much attention to usa dollar coins unless they cross my path, but I stumbled on to this one.. the seller is stating lots of stuff here including the fact this is ms.. there is no way the mark on the neck happened in a mint bag?

looks like a coins edge was up against it and bounced along the cheek, than got pushed up real close and dug into her at the neck/jaw meeting point.

The flatness at the ear is due to strike weakness but the rest is all bagmarks. It is worth noting that many millions of silver dollars were struck, loaded into 1000 coin bags, and then thrown into Treasury vaults for several decades. Some of those bags were moved around multiple times in a haphazard manner, creating technically uncirculated but otherwise ugly coins at the MS60/61 level. The coin does actually have nice luster but it is only broken by bagmarks, not wear.

Agree just a severe bag mark. MS-61 sounds about right.

Looks MS. I would buy as such. the marks are from stacking and banging around in a bag with 999 other coins. A soft strike is evident over the ear.
