I am curious if anyone has any thoughts on this penny. It is about twice as thick as a normal penny. The diameter is also the size of a dime...a little smaller than a regular penny.

Thanks.

This coin looks altered. Looks the edge was hard rolled. (pressed and rolled) The thick is stronger than a Dryer Coin and the faces are not altered. PSD.

Maybe for an infant? Too small of diameter to make the useful.

If they were two coins pressed together, then the weight of the coin would be doubled. The design/rim/edge would all be normal sized. Yours is an altered cents, so the weight is normal. The size is smaller because of the alteration. The excess size that would be there, is not forming the higher rim. So it an damaged coin. Only worth copper melt.
