I noticed that the letter E on dime is different from other Barber dimes I've seen. Is this unusual or not really?

Hi,

This is a Liberty Head dime. Also called a Barber dime (I think that is what you meant since your subject had it right)

It is not possible to tell if there was a die chip that wore flat or if something else changed the shape of the letter, but wear is at least one factor.

Thanks,
Bill

Thanks for correcting me Bill. Barber dime. (I've been looking at several Mercury dimes) My thoughts exactly on wear probably being at fault, but it's difficult for tell.

Looks like a chipped die caused the inner part of the E to look different. Just a diagnostic or variety not usually worth a premium.
